Description
Harmony Hammond's work has been present for much of the contemporary feminist, gay and lesbian art movements dating back from the 1970s. She has been pushing for visibility for women and lesbian artists for decades and her work connects issues of gender, class, and sexuality with art world realms of abstraction and minimalism. The result is social aware abstract work moving between painting and sculpture, much like this piece "Tiny Aperture #3". This monotype with embedded grommets on paper uses monochromatic color to draw the viewer into the holes of the grommet, alluding to eyes, mouths, and other points of entry or egress. This work was printed in 2013 at 10 Grand Press in Santa Fe, NM.
